In a major upgrade to its defense strength, the Indian Army has added the first set of Apache helicopters to its aviation fleet. This important step is expected to improve the Army’s combat power. The Indian Army shared the news on social media, calling it a “milestone moment.” According to their post, the addition of these advanced helicopters will “greatly boost the Army’s operational strength.” The helicopters arrived at Hindon Airbase, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Army Aviation.
While this is a first for the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force already operates 22 Apache helicopters. These aircraft are currently in use in key areas like Ladakh and the western front, where they have proven their value in tough conditions.
The Apache helicopter is a powerful war machine. It can fire different types of weapons, including air-to-ground Hellfire missiles, 70 mm Hydra rockets, and air-to-air Stinger missiles. It also has a 30 mm chain gun that holds 1,200 rounds. To improve its aim and target tracking, the Apache is equipped with a 360-degree radar and advanced sensors for night vision and target detection. These systems help the helicopter perform well in both day and night operations.
The version delivered to the Army is the AH-64E v6, the most advanced model of the Apache. It is designed for modern warfare and can work well in multi-domain operations. This model has improved sensors, software, and weapons systems. The AH-64E v6 is built for speed, agility, and teamwork with other units. Its ability to connect with different battlefield systems makes it one of the most advanced helicopters in the world. With these helicopters, the Indian Army will be better prepared for both present and future challenges.
